Race for the Cure 2011

In May the Asay family all got together for the yearly tradition of Race for the Cure. This time was a little different as Wendy was re-diagnosed with breast cancer in March after being in remission for several years. By the time the race came around, she was already in the middle of bi-weekly chemo treatments.

Asay's Angels 2011

This is a yearly tradition that will go on for many years to come. No matter what everyone has going on, we all pull together and participate in this event every year.

Family Visits from Peru

In February my aunt, uncle and cousins that I haven't seen in almost 10 years came out to visit. They were only here for a few days as they were also spending time in Florida, California, and Nevada so the time we spent together was limited, but we had fun.

My aunt and uncle don't speak a lick of English (well...maybe a few things here and there) so it was pretty interesting to watch Kevin interact with them.. (he was so nervous). I think he may have a little Spanish gene hidden somewhere in that Asay blood because he was able to understand quite a bit. I think it also helps that he has taken an interest in learning also that they all speak with their hands. :) By the time we go to Peru and visit, he'll be a Spanish-speaking machine.

Lynnette, Kaleb, Giacomo, Carlogino, Kevin and I went up to Solitude one day and spent the day skiing and boarding. It was the first time that my cousins or Kaleb had ever been so it was a day full of falling and new experiences for everyone. They did awesome!!

Anniversary Gift

For our two year anniversary Kevin decided to add a band to my wedding ring. We've talked about it ever since we were first looking at engagement rings.

[Weird fact about me - it bothers me when things are not symmetrical or crooked or don't line up correctly. It's weird, I know, but it's one of my pet peeves.]

I absolutely L O V E it. I think it makes my ring look complete and I love that Kevin is so perceptive and remembers little things I say I like even if just in passing. It's a rare thing to find a man who always makes it a point to make sure that I feel special and find gifts he knows that I will love. It also helps that he's as big of a sucker as I am for jewelry and feels it's a good investment. Works for me. :)

Julie's Birthday

Skip ahead to January...we decided to throw Julie a surprise birthday party at the Eagles. We got Daddy-o in on the plan so he could make sure to get the birthday girl there at the scheduled time. (I love this picture of them. They look so cute. :) )

Needless to say, Julie wasn't expecting it. I think it's safe to say she was surprised...enough to burst into tears.

This picture is so funny. There really weren't that many candles on the cake, but the camera managed to catch a big puff of smoke when she blew them all out.... We all LOL'd.

Scar-face

Poor Kev fell out of a tree at work shortly after returning from our California trip and ended up splitting open his chin on cement steps. He played it off as though it was not a big deal when he called me at work, but I knew better...especially when I found out that he was being driven to the ER at LDS Hospital for stitches.

Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of it right after it happened (trust me, it was gross and I tend to get a little nauseous around blood and guts), so scabs had already started to form over the stitches when I finally got around to snapping this photo the following day. (You can't tell by the picture, but it was a pretty decent sized gash. He had to get stitches both inside and outside of his mouth which has turned into a pretty gnarly scar now.) The facial hair helps to cover it up.

Alcatraz

Self Explanatory. Amazing...I would highly recommend visiting Alcatraz if ever in the area and you get the opportunity - don't pass it up. (WARNING::Picture overload)

Apple Hill

Jeff, Linda, Ashley and Laury took us along Apple Hill - reminded me of Farmers Market or similar as there were a lot of booths where people were trying to sell their homemade or local goods...and of course there were tons of APPLES and ORCHARDS.

...and sweet photo ops. :)

Jeff and Linda tried to duck out of the way when I was taking pictures - luckily we were able to snag these beauties.

All in all - a good day.
