Thankful

I'm thankful for a ba-jillion things - friends and family, good health, having a good job during such uncertain/hard times, but although small and insignificant in comparison, the following are also things that I am thankful for this year...

Unconditional love from my best friends. No matter how bad my day, how terrible I look, or how sick I am, they will still cuddle up with me and give me loves. (well...they're giving Kev loves here).

Leggings!! While slacks and jeans may no longer fit [well] leggings always fit and are uber comfy.

The Gym. Not only do I love to work out, it's good for me and always makes takes the edge off after a stressful day. Win-win.

Books you start reading and get so caught up you lose track of time.

Reality TV. It's true, I watch a lot of crap... A LOT. But it makes me appreciate things in my life. I am thankful for Teen Mom for making me appreciate Kevin so much more...and that Gary or any of the other losers are not my baby daddy and that I was never and will never be a teen mom.
On that note, I am also thankful for shows such as Fear Factor (so excited that it's made a comeback) as I will hopefully never be in a position where I will be eating worms, scorpions, flies, buffalo testicles, etc. Ga-ross.
Speaking of Fear Factor, I'm thankful that Joe Rogan is still the host. He is nice to look at and has aged well...and his sleeves are sexy. He is definitely my #1 celeb crush.

I'm sure there's more...but that's good for now. :)

Halloween 2011

Kevin's nephews begged him to be the "Green Guy" for Halloween aka The Hulk. Kev never does anything half-way so of course - he went all out...as in...spray painting his entire body. Our tub is still stained green. LOL

We usually try to do joint costumes (remember Dora and Boots circa 2009?)

...and while I was not ready to be the She-hulk like Kevin requested, I was fine with sticking to the Superhero theme and went as Batgirl. This year we even got the dogs dressed up.

All the little boys on the hubby's side stayed true to the Superhero theme. They looked so cute! :)

We also went to a couple of Halloween parties. I didn't get great photos (I need to be better at taking my camera and remembering to take pictures.

Pumpkin Patch 2011

We had our 2nd annual Pumpkin Carving night with friends - we've decided we'll keep this tradition up forever...or....at least till we can't get out of our wheelchairs. :) I'd never been to a pumpkin patch before so Kevin took me. It was worth the extra drive time.. :)

Unfortunately, I didn't get pictures of the actual carving this year, but I promise it happened!!

Hiking with Chloe

The beginning of August we decided to take Chloe on a hike through some of the trails up Millcreek Canyon. Kevin was skeptical about taking her off the leash and letting her be "free", but she was so obedient and stayed right with us - just as I knew she would. Chloe like to take the lead and stayed a few steps ahead of us. We would occasionally stop and take a little break and she stayed right with us and waited until we were ready to go again. Such a good girl!

Before heading out, we read about Doggy Backpacks that you can fill with water, food, waste deposit bags, etc., that we decided to get for her. Not only does your dog carry their own supplies, but it's supposed to be good for working class dogs as it makes them feel as though they have a job....oh and as an added bonus - it tires your pooch out faster. Score.

Triple A Allstar Game

The Triple A Allstar game was held in Salt Lake this year and Kevin was able to get a few tickets so that my dad and I could go. It was a packed which made for good people watching. :)

Kevin and his co-workers did such a good job on the field. They painted stars throughout as well as cut stripes into the outfield. It looked awesome!!

Taryn Gets Married

One of my old friends from high school got married on Kevin's birthday as well, it was a busy, busy day.

Taryn and Cody got married up Millcreek Canyon at the Millcreek Inn. The venue was breathtaking! I had the best view during the ceremony and was able to get killer photos.

It was nice to visit with old friends I hadn't seen in awhile and meet new ones at our table.

Congratulations guys!! So happy and excited for you both!

Kev & Chloe's Birthday

Kevin decided that for his birthday this year he wanted to go clay pigeon shooting. I was a little nervous about it because I'd never been, and the one time prior that I had fired a shotgun killed my shoulder...but we had a blast!

Pfft...Kevin put me to shame by hitting almost every target (even when I'd trick him and send more than one out at once) but I got 2!!! So proud of myself. Even though it was only a few, IT WAS DANG HARD!!

When we were done, we went home to give Chloe and the other dogs Birthday Pizza to celebrate Chloe's birthday. LOL... Best.Chloe.Picture.EVER. (She was so excited that she was smiling.)

Race for the Cure 2011

In May the Asay family all got together for the yearly tradition of Race for the Cure. This time was a little different as Wendy was re-diagnosed with breast cancer in March after being in remission for several years. By the time the race came around, she was already in the middle of bi-weekly chemo treatments.

Asay's Angels 2011

This is a yearly tradition that will go on for many years to come. No matter what everyone has going on, we all pull together and participate in this event every year.

Family Visits from Peru

In February my aunt, uncle and cousins that I haven't seen in almost 10 years came out to visit. They were only here for a few days as they were also spending time in Florida, California, and Nevada so the time we spent together was limited, but we had fun.

My aunt and uncle don't speak a lick of English (well...maybe a few things here and there) so it was pretty interesting to watch Kevin interact with them.. (he was so nervous). I think he may have a little Spanish gene hidden somewhere in that Asay blood because he was able to understand quite a bit. I think it also helps that he has taken an interest in learning also that they all speak with their hands. :) By the time we go to Peru and visit, he'll be a Spanish-speaking machine.

Lynnette, Kaleb, Giacomo, Carlogino, Kevin and I went up to Solitude one day and spent the day skiing and boarding. It was the first time that my cousins or Kaleb had ever been so it was a day full of falling and new experiences for everyone. They did awesome!!

Anniversary Gift

For our two year anniversary Kevin decided to add a band to my wedding ring. We've talked about it ever since we were first looking at engagement rings.

[Weird fact about me - it bothers me when things are not symmetrical or crooked or don't line up correctly. It's weird, I know, but it's one of my pet peeves.]

I absolutely L O V E it. I think it makes my ring look complete and I love that Kevin is so perceptive and remembers little things I say I like even if just in passing. It's a rare thing to find a man who always makes it a point to make sure that I feel special and find gifts he knows that I will love. It also helps that he's as big of a sucker as I am for jewelry and feels it's a good investment. Works for me. :)

Julie's Birthday

Skip ahead to January...we decided to throw Julie a surprise birthday party at the Eagles. We got Daddy-o in on the plan so he could make sure to get the birthday girl there at the scheduled time. (I love this picture of them. They look so cute. :) )

Needless to say, Julie wasn't expecting it. I think it's safe to say she was surprised...enough to burst into tears.

This picture is so funny. There really weren't that many candles on the cake, but the camera managed to catch a big puff of smoke when she blew them all out.... We all LOL'd.
